ACC Reveals Bold New Court Design for 2026 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament

As the 2026 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament tips off March 4, fans will immediately notice something different at center court.

For the first time since 2016, the conference is unveiling a dedicated women’s tournament court — a bold, modern design created by the ACC Marketing and Brand department and brought to life by graphic artist Boston Logan. The refreshed look blends the league’s rich history with a forward-thinking visual identity that reflects the evolution of ACC women’s basketball.

The 49th annual tournament will be held March 4–9 at Gas South Arena in Greater Atlanta. Notably, this marks the first time in conference history that the Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will be played at a neutral site outside of the Carolinas.

A Court That Honors the Past — and Embraces the Future

According to ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, the updated design represents both growth and momentum within the conference.

“ACC Women’s Basketball continues to thrive, and we are thrilled to provide this new court for our student-athletes, coaches, programs and fans to enjoy,” Phillips said. He also emphasized the league’s continued partnership with Ally and expressed appreciation for Duluth and Gas South Arena in hosting this premier championship event.

Jackie Carson, ACC Senior Vice President for Women’s Basketball, echoed that excitement, highlighting how the new tournament location combined with a vibrant court design creates renewed energy around the event.

Design Elements with Meaning

Beyond its modern aesthetic, the court includes several intentional tributes to the tournament’s history and geographic footprint:

Peach Symbolism

A nod to Georgia — the Peach State — and Duluth’s role as host city. The peach also represents the tournament’s historic move outside the Carolinas for the first time.

Palmetto Tree

Honors South Carolina, where the tournament was previously held in Clemson (1981), Rock Hill (1992–1996), and Conway (2017).

Crown Icon

Represents Charlotte, known as the “Queen City,” which became the ACC’s headquarters in 2023 and will host the 50th tournament in 2027.

Vintage Greensboro Coliseum Logo

Pays tribute to Greensboro Coliseum — now known as First Horizon Coliseum — which hosted 25 of the last 26 tournaments and served as the longtime home of the event.

Area Code Tributes

The design incorporates area codes symbolizing key cities in tournament history:

  • 336 – Greensboro’s longtime connection to the ACC

  • 704 – Charlotte, current conference headquarters

  • 910 – Fayetteville, site of the first neutral-site tournament (1983–1991)

  • 770 – Duluth and Gas South Arena

1978 Marker

Recognizes the first-ever ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament, held in Charlottesville, Virginia. The championship game featured Maryland defeating Virginia 89–82 in front of 2,750 fans — a stark contrast to the more than 70,000 fans who attended last year’s tournament.

Graffiti Typography & “WBBT” Motif

The bold, graffiti-inspired lettering reflects pride, individuality, and the modern culture of women’s basketball. Hand-drawn elements give the court personality, attitude, and an unmistakable sense of ownership.

A Historic Tournament

The Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament remains the oldest Division I conference women’s basketball tournament in the country. Now in its 49th year, the event continues to grow in attendance, visibility, and national prominence.

With a new host city, a new visual identity, and championship aspirations on the line, the 2026 edition promises to deliver a fresh chapter in ACC history.
