Big Night for Charlotte, Even if We Fell Short

The energy was unreal tonight as the Charlotte Hornets kicked off their home opener against the Miami Heat. LaMelo Ball gave fans plenty to cheer for, racking up 27 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. His moves were smooth and electric, keeping the game exciting and close until the end. Though we fell 114-106, you could see the potential in this team—especially when we get fully healthy!

Heartfelt Tribute for Pat Doughty and Hurricane Victims

It was a night of remembrance and resilience as we honored our late announcer, Pat Doughty, who will be missed dearly. We also got to show support for our city, with a live broadcast of the hurricane relief concert nearby. Eric Church, a part-owner of the Hornets, made it a night to remember by performing for our community.

Turnovers and Timing Setbacks

With 20 turnovers, including two five-second inbound violations, it’s clear we’ve got some early-season kinks to work out. The guys seemed just a bit out of sync tonight, and that’s understandable given all the moving pieces. The absence of starters like Brandon Miller, Mark Williams, and Josh Green put our depth to the test early.

Miami’s Clutch Shots and Teamwork

Credit to the Heat—they came ready, with Butler, Herro, and Duncan Robinson hitting big-time threes to answer our rallies. Butler took control in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points, making things tough for our defense down the stretch. When Herro nailed that clutch three-pointer with 1:36 left, it was a heartbreaker.

Excitement for the Road Ahead

Even though we didn’t get the win, the heart and hustle were there, and that’s what matters. Watching LaMelo and Rozier battle to the end showed our team’s resilience, something we’ll need this season. This is just game three, and we’re already fired up for what’s next as we take on Toronto Wednesday. Let’s go, Hornets!
