The Clemson Tigers kicked off their season in style, rolling over Jackson State 78-44 in a dominant showing. It was an exciting first game for Head Coach Shawn Poppie, who snagged his inaugural win with Clemson. From the start, Clemson took control, leading the entire game and showcasing depth, defensive prowess, and great teamwork. Ten players scored for Clemson, with senior Tessa Miller leading with a game-high 17 points on a near-perfect 7-of-8 from the field. Graduate student Loyal McQueen had a notable outing, setting career highs with seven rebounds and seven assists.

It was clear from the opening tip-off that Clemson’s women were on a mission. Mia Moore scored the first points of the season, and the Tigers quickly established their rhythm with a 21-14 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, they broke away with a 21-2 run, holding Jackson State to just four points over nearly 16 minutes. Clemson’s stifling defense and fast-paced offensive style seemed to overwhelm Jackson State, who could only watch as the Tigers extended the lead to 37 points by the third quarter.

Clemson's New Roster, Same Chemistry

Despite the addition of new players, the team gelled impressively well on the court. This group showed a promising blend of tenacity and unity, especially on defense, which will be exciting to watch as the season progresses. Clemson has already proven they have the talent to compete and the chemistry to make each game an all-out team effort.

It’s hard not to be excited for what this team brings to the table this season. They play with an energy and coordination that would thrill any basketball fan, especially with their defensive intensity and explosive runs. The Tigers don’t just play as individuals; they’re a unified force that flows seamlessly together, making it all the more exhilarating to watch.

A Call for More Fan Support

One of the most thrilling parts of the game was the reaction from the small student section that showed up. You could see the excitement and appreciation from the players as they interacted with the fans. Women’s basketball doesn’t always get the attention it deserves, but this Clemson team is doing something special. They’re bringing intensity, skill, and a whole lot of heart to every play, and they deserve the same support their male counterparts receive.

Imagine how much more this would mean to them—and how much more electric the games could be—if more fans showed up to support these incredible athletes. It’s more than just cheering from the stands; it’s about creating a game-day experience that uplifts the players and makes Clemson’s home court a true advantage. When you see how hard these women play and the effort they bring, it’s impossible not to want to see them succeed, and a crowd backing them would mean the world.

Jackson State's Fight

For Jackson State, it was a tough opening game, but they showed resilience in the face of a strong Clemson team. Although they struggled to keep up with Clemson's tempo, Jackson State didn’t back down. It’s clear they have some work to do, but they have the potential to bounce back with solid performances this season.

A Promising Season Ahead

All signs point to this being a season to remember for Clemson’s women’s basketball team. With standout performances, strong defense, and a true sense of unity, they’re bound to make some noise. But they need the fans there with them, making the atmosphere as intense as the team itself. This season has the potential to be something truly special—now it’s up to the fans to help make that happen.
