Seven From Sunday: Gibbs, Rodgers, Mahomes Post Historic Numbers in NFL Week 3
NEW YORK — Sunday's 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET games in Week 3 of the 2026 NFL season delivered close finishes, comebacks and a handful of record-book moments. Here are seven statistical highlights, with two games still to play in the week.
A Week Decided by the Final Minutes
Twelve of the 14 games played so far (86%) were within one score (eight points) in the fourth quarter, and 11 of 14 (79%) were decided by eight points or less.
Five teams, Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh, scored the game-winning points in the final three minutes. Three others, Baltimore, Buffalo and Las Vegas, overcame deficits of 10 or more points to win.
Buffalo, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Minnesota and San Francisco moved to 3-0. Atlanta, Indianapolis and Washington earned their first wins of the season.
The Commanders beat the Seahawks 33-31, making Washington the first 0-2 team to beat the defending Super Bowl champions in Week 3 since Cincinnati over Pittsburgh in 1980.
1. Ravens Win in Rio; Derrick Henry Climbs the All-Time List
Baltimore beat Dallas 34-31 when kicker Tyler Loop made a 56-yard field goal as time expired in the first regular-season NFL game ever played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Running back Derrick Henry scored two rushing touchdowns in the win. He now has 135 career rushing touchdowns, including the postseason, passing Hall of Famer Marcus Allen (134) for third most in NFL history. Only Hall of Famers Emmitt Smith (183) and LaDainian Tomlinson (151) have more.
2. Aaron Rodgers Moves Into Elite Company
Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, posting a 101.6 passer rating in the Steelers' 30-27 win over Cincinnati.
Rodgers now has 165 career regular-season wins, tying Ben Roethlisberger for fifth most in league history. Only Tom Brady (251), Brett Favre (186), Peyton Manning (186) and Drew Brees (172) have more.
He also recorded his 81st career game with at least three touchdown passes and a passer rating of 100 or higher, passing Brees (80) for second most all time. Only Brady (91) has more.
3. Patrick Mahomes Ties Tom Brady
Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns with a 119.8 rating in his 150th career start, including the postseason, as the Chiefs beat Miami 24-10. Running back Kenneth Walker scored twice, once rushing and once receiving.
Mahomes earned his 115th career win, tying Brady for the most wins by a quarterback in his first 150 career starts. He also has 97 career games with multiple touchdown passes, passing Manning (96) for second most in a player's first 10 NFL seasons, behind only Russell Wilson (100).
Walker became the first player in NFL history with a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in two of his first three games with a team.
4. Josh Allen Makes Rushing History
Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen ran for two touchdowns and linebacker Greg Rousseau had two sacks in the Bills' 24-16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Allen is the first quarterback in NFL history with multiple rushing touchdowns in three consecutive games. With six rushing touchdowns this season, he is the fourth player ever with at least six in nine straight seasons, joining Hall of Famers Marshall Faulk and LaDainian Tomlinson (10 each) and Jim Brown (nine).
Rousseau is the third player since 1982, when the individual sack became an official statistic, with at least two sacks in each of his team's first three games. The others are Mark Gastineau (1984, New York Jets) and Hall of Famer Kevin Greene (1998, Carolina).
5. Jahmyr Gibbs Puts Together a Historic Start
Detroit running back Jahmyr Gibbs had 164 scrimmage yards (99 rushing, 65 receiving) and three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) in the Lions' 31-24 win over the New York Jets. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown caught his fifth touchdown pass of the season.
Gibbs and St. Brown tied Hall of Famers Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed of Buffalo (23 games) for the fourth-most games in NFL history in which a running back and wide receiver teammate both scored a touchdown. Only Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin of Dallas (32), Lenny Moore and Raymond Berry of the Baltimore Colts (31) and Edgerrin James and Marvin Harrison of Indianapolis (25) have more.

He is the first player in NFL history with four games featuring multiple rushing touchdowns and a touchdown reception in his first four seasons.
With 463 scrimmage yards (307 rushing, 156 receiving) and six touchdowns (four rushing, two receiving) this season, he is the first player ever with at least 300 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 150 receiving yards and multiple receiving touchdowns in his first three games of a season.
His 13 career games with at least two rushing touchdowns tie Jim Brown, Todd Gurley and Clinton Portis for the most by a player under 25.
He is the fourth player in NFL history with at least 150 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in four games during his first four seasons, joining Cloyce Box, Jim Brown and Larry Johnson.
6. Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase Keep Climbing
Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow threw three touchdown passes at Pittsburgh, including one to wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase.
It was Burrow's 30th career game with at least three touchdown passes, tying Favre and Dak Prescott for the fourth most by a player in his first seven seasons. Only Dan Marino (42), Mahomes (38) and Manning (32) have more.
Chase, who has 7,022 receiving yards in 81 career games, became the fourth-fastest player to reach 7,000, passing Torry Holt (82 games). Only Hall of Famer Lance Alworth and Julio Jones (72 games each) and Justin Jefferson (73) got there faster. Chase's 57 career touchdown receptions also passed Dez Bryant (56) for fourth most by a player under 27, behind Randy Moss (77), Rob Gronkowski (65) and Larry Fitzgerald (59).
7. Jaxon Smith-Njigba Is on a Record Pace
Seattle wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 10 catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns at Washington, despite the Seahawks' loss.
He is the fourth player in the Super Bowl era with six touchdown receptions in his first three games of a season, joining Calvin Johnson (2011, Detroit), Marvin Harrison (1999, Indianapolis) and Daryl Turner (1985, Seattle). He is also the second player in NFL history with at least 25 catches, 400 receiving yards and six touchdown catches in a team's first three games, along with Harrison in 1999. And he is the second player ever with at least 120 receiving yards and a touchdown catch in each of his team's first three games, joining Hall of Famer Jerry Rice (1989, San Francisco).
Additional Note
New Orleans tight ends Noah Fant and Juwan Johnson each had two touchdown receptions in Week 3. They are the second pair of tight end teammates in NFL history to each score multiple touchdown catches in the same game, joining Oakland's Jeremy Brigham and Rickey Dudley on Dec. 24, 2000.
