Skyhawks Capture Electric Home Opener Win in Front of Sold-Out Crowd
The College Park Skyhawks launched their 2025–26 home slate in spectacular fashion, securing a 121–113 victory over the Capital City Go-Go in front of a sold-out crowd at Gateway Center Arena. Friday night’s turnout marked the team’s fourth straight home-opening sellout dating back to 2022–23, proving once again that Skyhawks basketball continues to soar in College Park.
The energy inside the arena was electric from tipoff, as fans packed every corner to witness the first game of a three-game homestand. The Skyhawks rewarded them with a performance full of grit, highlight plays, and historic milestones.
Rookie guard Kobe Johnson delivered one of the most memorable debuts in franchise history, recording his first career double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, five blocks, and a steal. His all-around stat line made him the first player in Skyhawks history to post at least 10 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in a single game.
Atlanta Hawks assignment center N’Faly Dante dominated with a near-perfect shooting night, posting a career-high 33 points on 16-of-17 shooting, along with 11 rebounds. The performance marked his sixth consecutive double-double and continued his streak of elite G League play.
Two-way forward Jacob Toppin added a third double-double for College Park, finishing with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists as the Skyhawks used a late third-quarter surge to seize control of the game. Despite Capital City cutting the lead to two in the final minutes, the Skyhawks remained composed, closing out the win in front of an energized home crowd.
With momentum building and fan support at an all-time high, the Skyhawks return to Gateway Center Arena on Sunday, Nov. 16 for a rematch with Capital City during the season’s first Kids Day, followed by a matchup against the Long Island Nets on Nov. 26 at 7 p.m., one of four games airing on Atlanta News First.
Skyhawks basketball is officially back—and soaring higher than ever.
