Skyhawks set franchise marks in 139-113 win over Blue Coats
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — The College Park Skyhawks recorded franchise highs in assists and fast-break points in a 139-113 victory over the Delaware Blue Coats on Friday night.
College Park (4-7) finished with a team-record 41 assists and scored 38 fast-break points, breaking the previous franchise mark of 37. The Skyhawks also totaled 16 steals, the second-highest single-game total in team history. Their 139 points marked the fourth-highest scoring output in franchise history.
Kobe Johnson led the Skyhawks with a career-high 29 points, adding four assists, four rebounds and two steals in 29 minutes.
Malik Williams posted his 11th double-double of the season with 25 points, 19 rebounds, four steals and four blocks. RayJ Dennis added 24 points, 13 assists and four steals for his fourth double-double of the season. The pair became the first duo in franchise history to each record a double-double while also collecting four steals in the same game.
“Playing off point guards like RayJ and Dwight makes things a whole lot easier,” Johnson said. “He opens up the floor a lot for guys like myself, Caleb and Malik, and all of us have started to figure out how to play with each other.”
Delaware (5-5) took early control with an 11-0 run late in the first quarter to build a 37-28 lead. College Park responded with a 13-0 run early in the second quarter and outscored the Blue Coats 44-23 in the period to take a 72-60 halftime lead. The 44-point quarter was the sixth-highest scoring quarter in franchise history.
Williams had 19 points and 10 rebounds in the first half.
The Blue Coats cut the deficit to three early in the third quarter behind a 7-0 run from MarJon Beauchamp, but the Skyhawks closed the period on a 14-5 run to take a 112-98 lead into the fourth.
College Park extended the lead to as many as 29 points in the final quarter.
Beauchamp led Delaware with 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 37 minutes.
