SoCon Announces 2026-27 Women's Basketball League Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Southern Conference officially released its women's basketball league schedule Wednesday, with support from Ingles Markets. All nine SoCon teams will play double round-robin, 16-game intraleague schedules, totaling 72 league contests.
Conference play begins Dec. 29, with eight of the nine teams in action, and the regular season concludes with four conference matchups on Feb. 27.
Chattanooga, ETSU and Wofford each claimed a share of the 2025-26 regular-season conference title. Samford swept through the SoCon regular-season co-champions over a three-day span to win the tournament title under first-year head coach Matt Wise.
The conference also welcomes Tennessee Tech, which joins the SoCon for its inaugural season. The program is led by 11th-year head coach Kim Rosamond and comes off a 15-14 campaign after winning both the OVC regular-season and tournament titles in 2024-25.
The expanded Ingles SoCon Basketball Championships will include all nine programs this year, beginning Wednesday, March 3, with a first-round matchup between the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds at 6 p.m. ET at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville. The winner advances to Thursday's quarterfinals, joining the top seven seeds in four games starting at 11 a.m. Semifinals are set for 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday, with the championship game scheduled for noon Sunday and airing on ESPNU.
The 44th season of Southern Conference women's basketball opens with nonconference play Monday, Nov. 2.
