Sovereignty Captures Kentucky Derby Glory, Elevates Into Mischief to Historic Status

LOUISVILLE, KY – Godolphin homebred Sovereignty splashed to a commanding 1½-length victory over Journalism in Saturday's rain-soaked 151st Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.

The win elevated sire Into Mischief to rarefied air as only the fifth stallion in history to produce three Kentucky Derby winners, joining Bull Lea, Virgil, Falsetto, and Sir Gallahad III. No stallion had accomplished this feat since Bull Lea in 1957.

"This achievement places Into Mischief among the all-time greats," remarked veteran trainer Bob Jenkins. "Three Derby winners is extraordinary in any era."

The Spendthrift Farm stallion previously made history with back-to-back Derby winners Authentic (2020) and Mandaloun (2021). Into Mischief's remarkable legacy now includes 24 Grade 1 winners, six Eclipse champions, and eight Breeders' Cup winners.

For Godolphin, Sheikh Mohammed's global racing operation, the victory fulfilled a long-pursued Derby dream, while further cementing Into Mischief's status as one of racing's most influential modern sires.
