In a heartbreaking turn of events, Mississippi Valley State University’s football team lost one of its own on Friday night. Ryan Quinney, a 20-year-old junior linebacker, was killed in a car crash while the vehicle he was in allegedly attempted to flee from police. The tragedy unfolded just hours before the Delta Devils were set to face Jackson State University, casting a shadow over the weekend’s game and leaving the MVSU community in mourning.

The Chicago Classic has to depend its legacy and organization based off uncontrollable errors and based off logistically mistakes that could have been prevented had the university's coaching staff and athletic Director had been on top of things and properly communicated instead of bashing them days after they lose the game to Central State University.
