UGA Basketball Game Recap 🏀
Hey Crew!
Let’s talk about the time I went to a UGA Basketball Game! Now I know Georgia is a known football school but unfortunately I missed out on the season so I decided basketball would be the next best thing. I will note that parking is a hassle, I had to walk about a half mile to the arena because parking was full. They also have a lot of signs for parking but some are public and some are not, so I would suggest going early so you can fully situate yourself so you are not late. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the arena as the outside was a beauty. Although, the arena is much smaller than I expected- I love the walls as they were designed with UGA Sports history (images and facts). It was filled with school spirit and reminded me exactly where I was at even if I forgot for a slight second.
It was very easy to navigate around the arena with the signs and security to direct you to where you needed to be. I will say that although there was not a lot of security at the entrances I overall felt safe. Since it is a college campus I presume that they feel nothing outrageous would happen, but then again you never know now a days. Moving on, to the food- everyone loves food right?! Well, they failed with the food. It was a little pricey for school prices but that is expected as it was a sporting event. They did not have a lot of options so I settled for the popcorn, fries, and a drink. They did have a unique approach with going to get it yourself and checking out on the side. I would say the condiments could have been better as well, especially for such a large university my expectations were not exceeded.
I did secure my ticket from Veteran Tix and I was thankful to even be able to get a ticket. My seats were in the MM section which is higher up. The game was not a packed game which surprised me but perfect for a week night. I guess they really are a football heavy school- so that is definitely on my bucket list. The seats were great as they were behind the basket and allowed me to see everything. The Dawg Dancers and cheerleaders were there and they did an excellent job with nonstop cheering and dancing. Although, their style was not one of my favorites they did a lot for crowd engagement and interaction. My favorite part was after half-time they came out with ‘Rock the Steg’ chats and signs. They also had a small video presentation of it so the arena was definitely filled with school spirit. I adored seeing the Mascot as well as a plastic blow up version of him. Although, none of the entertainment or crowd engagement went pass the first level, so if you were not in the prime location you essentially had no action. So, this is a note that if you want a chance to grab a t-shirt or a free hot dog select seats in the lower bowl or else you will be disappointed.
Overall, it was a great game and the energy for such a small crowd was great. I really enjoyed the dancers consistency and the friendliness of the staff. The building is definitely something to look at and makes you feel that the pride of the University exist with their students and rich history. I hope this helps you if you ever want to go to a UGA basketball game!
P.S. here’s a video of my time and recap! Hope you enjoy and Go Dawgs!
