Young scores twice as Gladiators defeat Swamp Rabbits 2-1
DULUTH, Ga. (Jan. 19, 2026) — Alex Young scored two goals to lead the Atlanta Gladiators to a 2-1 win over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Monday afternoon at Gas South Arena.
Young gave Atlanta an early lead, scoring 1:22 into the first period off assists from Cody Sylvester and Isak Walther. Greenville tied the game late in the period with less than a minute remaining, sending the teams into the first intermission even at 1-1.
Both teams traded chances in a fast-paced second period, but strong goaltending kept the game tied until the final seconds. Young broke the deadlock with 3.5 seconds left in the period, scoring on a set play following a Greenville icing to give Atlanta a 2-1 advantage heading into the third.
Greenville pushed for the equalizer in the final period, applying steady pressure in the offensive zone. Atlanta’s defense limited second-chance opportunities, and a late Greenville shot off the post preserved the one-goal lead.
The Gladiators held on through the final horn to secure the home victory and improve their recent run of form. Atlanta next heads on the road for a divisional series.
