Miles Wins Third Straight SIAC Women’s Basketball Championship, Defeats Lane 59–52

MORROW, Ga. — The Miles Golden Bears women's basketball continued its reign over conference basketball Saturday, defeating the Lane Dragons women's basketball 59–52 to win the 2026 SIAC Women's Basketball Tournament championship at the Clayton County Convocation Center.

The victory marked the third consecutive SIAC tournament title for Miles, making the Lady Bears the first program to accomplish the feat since Fort Valley State Wildcats women's basketball won three straight championships from 2000 to 2003.

Miles relied on disciplined defense and timely scoring to hold off a determined Lane squad throughout the championship contest.

The game remained close through much of the afternoon, with Lane keeping pressure on the defending champions with strong perimeter shooting and defensive intensity. However, Miles responded with key baskets and defensive stops late in the fourth quarter to maintain its lead.

The Lady Bears’ ability to control the tempo and secure rebounds in the final minutes helped seal the seven-point victory and another SIAC title.

With the championship win, Miles earns the conference’s automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Lady Bears will compete in the South Region, with their opponent to be announced during Selection Sunday.

The victory continues a dominant run for Miles women’s basketball and positions the program for another opportunity to compete on the national stage.
