Wake Forest Women’s Basketball Announces 2026-27 ACC Schedule
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest women’s basketball now knows what the road to the 2026-27 ACC season will look like.
The Demon Deacons announced their conference schedule Wednesday, completing a slate that will feature 18 ACC games, including nine contests at LJVM Coliseum as Wake Forest enters the fifth season of the Megan Gebbia era.
The schedule comes with expectations following a 2025-26 campaign in which Wake Forest opened the season with nine consecutive victories, its best start since the 2008-09 season. The Demon Deacons were the final undefeated team remaining in the ACC and one of just 28 teams nationally to begin the year 9-0.
Wake Forest ultimately finished with 14 victories and earned a berth in the WNIT, marking the program’s second appearance in the event in four seasons.
Now, the Deacs will look to build on that foundation against an ACC schedule that features several marquee matchups at home and on the road.
Nine ACC Opponents Coming to LJVM Coliseum
Wake Forest will welcome Clemson, SMU, Pitt, Stanford, Cal, Louisville, Boston College, Duke and NC State to Winston-Salem.
The ACC home opener arrives Sunday, Dec. 13, when Clemson comes to LJVM Coliseum.
Wake Forest will then hit the road for its first conference road game Dec. 19 against Virginia Tech before returning home to close 2026 against SMU on Dec. 31.
The Deacs will begin 2027 at home against Pitt on Jan. 3 before traveling to Chapel Hill for their first Big Four matchup of the season against North Carolina on Jan. 7. Georgia Tech follows Jan. 10 in Atlanta.
A two-game homestand against Stanford and Cal on Jan. 14 and Jan. 17 will provide Wake Forest with an opportunity to face two of the ACC’s West Coast programs in Winston-Salem.
The month will close with three consecutive road games against Virginia, NC State and Florida State.
February opens with another two-game homestand as Louisville visits Feb. 4 and Boston College comes to LJVM Coliseum on Feb. 7.
Wake Forest then heads south for games at Miami and Notre Dame before returning home for the final homestand of the regular season.
That stretch features a pair of Big Four matchups, with Duke visiting Feb. 21 and NC State returning to Winston-Salem on Feb. 25.
The regular season concludes Feb. 28 at Syracuse.
A Schedule Built Around Big Four Matchups
The Big Four rivalry will once again be a significant part of Wake Forest’s conference schedule.
The Demon Deacons will travel to North Carolina on Jan. 7 before hosting Duke on Feb. 21 and NC State on Feb. 25. Wake Forest also travels to NC State on Jan. 24.
Those games provide some of the most anticipated opportunities on the schedule, particularly during a season in which Wake Forest will attempt to turn last season’s promising start into sustained success.
The Deacs Return Experience
Wake Forest enters the season with six returning players, led by senior guard/forward Mary Carter.
Carter returns as the team’s leading scorer after averaging 11.0 points per game last season. She also led the Deacs with 70 3-pointers and an .864 free-throw percentage.
Junior guard Aurora Sørbye returns after appearing in all 32 games last season. She led Wake Forest in total assists with 95 and averaged 3.0 assists per game while contributing 7.2 points per contest.
Sophomore forward Opal Bird also returns after tying Carter for the team lead in blocks with 21. Bird ranked second among ACC freshmen in assists per game at 2.8.
Madisyn Jordan, Grace Galbavy and Savannah Metcalfe round out the returning group.
That returning core will be joined by six scholarship newcomers, giving Gebbia a mix of veteran experience and new talent heading into the ACC grind.
Six Newcomers Add to the Mix
Wake Forest added six scholarship players to its roster, including freshman guard Oshauna Holland, the all-time leading scorer in North Carolina high school girls basketball and the 2026 N.C. Gatorade Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Freshman guard Adora Nwude arrives after helping Bullis School reach the 2026 Chipotle National Championship game and win the Maryland Private School Basketball Championship.
Freshman forward Helena Danielewicz brings international experience after competing for Poland at the 2026 FIBA U-18 Women’s EuroBasket.
The Deacs also added graduate guard Breauna Ware, who has played 84 career games across stops at Wisconsin, Stony Brook and St. Bonaventure.
Redshirt junior guard/forward Ramiyah Byrd joins the program from Cincinnati, where she established herself as one of the team’s top rebounders, while redshirt sophomore forward Mckenzie Swanson arrives from Butler after being a four-star recruit and 2023-24 McDonald’s All-American nominee.
The combination gives Wake Forest an opportunity to build on last season without relying solely on the returning roster.
What’s Next for Wake Forest
The ACC schedule is now set, but the road to conference play begins with the non-conference portion of the schedule previously announced by Wake Forest.
Once ACC play begins, the challenge will be turning last season’s nine-game start and WNIT appearance into another step forward.
With nine conference games at LJVM Coliseum, a veteran core led by Carter and Sørbye, and a highly regarded incoming class, Wake Forest will have opportunities throughout the season to establish itself against some of the ACC’s most recognizable programs.
The first of those opportunities comes Dec. 13 against Clemson.
For a program entering its fifth season under Gebbia, the 2026-27 schedule offers a clear test: build on the progress of last season and make the next step count.
