Skyhawks Continue Community Impact Through ‘Colli’s Classroom’ Program
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (May 14, 2026) — The College Park Skyhawks continued one of their growing community traditions Thursday morning, honoring West Clayton Elementary fifth grader Kishori Das with the organization’s third annual F.L.Y. Award.
Presented during the school’s year-end awards ceremony, the recognition celebrates students who demonstrate excellence both inside and outside the classroom.
The award—short for Future Leader, Lifelong Learner, and Youth Achiever—highlights students who consistently stand out through academics, leadership, behavior and participation throughout the school year.
Kishori Das Recognized for Leadership and Academic Excellence
Das earned the honor following nominations and evaluations from fifth grade and elective teachers, who reviewed academic performance, classroom participation and leadership qualities before selecting the final recipient.
In addition to receiving the award, Das was surprised with a custom College Park Skyhawks jersey featuring the number 26 and her name across the back.
The recognition places her alongside previous F.L.Y. Award recipients Gabriella Coggins and Remington Goodloe.
‘Colli’s Classroom’ Continues to Grow in Third Year
The award presentation also marked the conclusion of the Skyhawks’ third year partnering with West Clayton Elementary through the organization’s “Colli’s Classroom” School Adoption Program.
The initiative impacts approximately 480 students and 90 staff members throughout the academic year and has become a major part of the Skyhawks’ local outreach efforts.
During the 2025-26 school year, the program included:
Reading days
PE takeovers
Curriculum Night
Youth Empowerment Day
A multi-part career exploration series
The goal remains centered around creating meaningful connections between students, educators and the organization beyond basketball.
Skyhawks and School Leaders Reflect on Program’s Impact
Skyhawks Manager of Community Impact Sadé Means praised both Das and the graduating fifth-grade class during Thursday’s ceremony.
“This year, we were able to both explore new programming and continue building on existing initiatives that made this one of our most impactful years yet,” Means said.
West Clayton Elementary assistant principal Zakiyya Whittle also emphasized the long-term value the partnership has brought to students and staff over the past three years.
More Than Basketball
Programs like “Colli’s Classroom” continue to show how professional sports organizations are extending their impact far beyond the court.
For the Skyhawks, Thursday’s celebration was less about awards and more about investing in the next generation of leaders within the community they represent.
